These informal meetings will give applicants the opportunity to receive information about the competition and what to expect if they choose to take part. They will hear from a representative from the Miss England Organisation and also from previous heat winners about their own experiences; how the contest has been a stepping stone in their lives and how they have used the opportunities that have resulted from their taking part. There will be an opportunity to meet some of the team members and for applicants to ask any questions that they may have.

Auditions will be held on the afternoon and evening of Sunday 13th March and the evening of Tuesday 22nd March at locations around Bedfordshire. These are:

G-Casino, 35 Park Street West, Luton LU1 3BE on Sunday 13th March any time between 2:30pm - 4:30pm

and

Namco Station in The Galaxy Centre, Luton,LU1 2NB on Sunday evening 13th March any time between 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

and

The Litten Tree, 53-55 High Street, Bedford, MK40 1RZ on Tuesday evening 22nd March any time between 6:30pm - 8:30pm

The winners will go on to represent their county at the respective Mr and Miss England finals later in the year.

Organisers are looking for contestants aged 17-24 who are not only photogenic and attractive in face and figure but also have good communication skills, confidence and charm.

Winning the title of Miss or Mr Bedfordshire will bring a host of new opportunities to the winner including representing the county in the next round of the national competition and a contract with top modelling agency BMA Models.

Bedford-girl Malin Andersson (pictured), the reigning Miss Bedfordshire, will be handing over her crown and sash to the new winner.

Last year Malin strutted her-stuff at September's glamorous Miss England Grand Final which was also broadcast on TV.

Miss Bedfordshire 2010 raised over £3,500 for the official Miss England charity - The Variety Club's children charity - and this year the competition aims to raise even more money.

Applicants for the competition must be aged 17-24, live work or study within Bedfordshire and fulfil the criteria of the Miss England rules (found at www.missengland.info).

In response to accusations of sexism because males have previously been excluded, the organisers have decided to introduce Mr Bedfordshire for the first time, a heat for Mr England.

The winner will take part in the national Mr England final in July and will have the opportunity to go on to represent England in an international competition.

If you are a male aged 17-27, well-groomed and with a pleasant personality it could be YOU representing Bedfordshire in the Mr England final** and go on to represent England in an international final abroad.

Miss Charity 2010

The Miss Bedfordshire organisers are committed to upholding the Miss World ethos of "Beauty with a Purpose" by raising funds for charity. All the Miss Bedfordshire finalists were invited to raise funds for our chosen charity The Variety Club Childrens Charity. The top fundraiser was awarded a sash, crown, trophy and the title 'Miss Charity Bedfordshire' on the night of the final.

Miss Charity 2010 was Jenna Lynch.

Miss Popularity 2010

In the weeks leading up to the final show the general public had the chance to vote for their favourite contestant. The winner of the Public Vote was crowned onstage and awarded the title 'Miss Popularity'.

Miss Popularity 2010 was Olivia Goodwin.

Miss Congeniality 2010

All the finalists took part in a secret ballot just before the show after a full day of rehearsals together to choose the one contestant, who, in their view deserved the title of Miss Congeniality.Stephanie was the one voted by her fellow finalists to win the award.

Miss Congeniality 2010 was Stephanie Perry.

Miss Green Goddess 2010

The Miss Bedfordshire finalists were asked to create an Eco-friendly outfit from re-cycled or second hand materials or to wear a vintage outfit that had been worn before by another generation. All the outfits (below) were interesting and creative but the judges awarded the title of Green Goddess to Sian who created her dress from used carrier bags.

Miss Green Goddess 2010 was Sian Koster.
